Rangers, BSF agree to strictly enforce ceasefire agreement

This was said in a joint statement on the concluding day of a dialogue between the two sides held at the Rangers Headquarters. They agreed on intelligence sharing to curb smuggling and joint patrolling to reduce cross-border movement on both sides.

The issue of the Sialkot Working Boundary and the international border was also discussed. It was decided that any minor alterations between the two sides will be solved after a flag meeting held with local commanders.

The statement also said that both sides will enhance security for the visitors and travelers to each other country. In case of an emergency, the border forces will maintain contact through a hotline with each other.

The 23-member delegation was being led by Director-General BSF Krishan Kumar Sharma, while the host side was being led by Director-General Rangers Maj. General Umar Farooq Burki.  The next phase of talks will be held in New Delhi.
