Colonel Qaiser of Pakistan Rangers Sindh, speaking at a press briefing at the Rangers Headquarters here, said that the paramilitary force has developed a software to connect schools and colleges across the megapolis with a security alert system.
“In case of an emergency, a message would be sent by school authorities prompting the law enforcers to spring into action,” he said. “They will also be assisted by the police in the rapid response operations.”
For this purpose the city has been divided into 60 parts with response centers also set up, said the official. More than 3000 schools have already been linked with the security alert system.
Colonel Qaiser encouraged other educational institutions to contact their nearest response center or the Rangers Headquarters to get them registered.
He said that at present the software is being used to connect educational institutes to the alert system, however, the service would be extended to sensitive areas, recreational places, hospitals, shopping centers and media houses.
