KARACHI: Home Minister of Sindh Sohail Anwar Siyal has stated that suspended Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rao Anwar will be restored to his position again, if he is proven innocent in extra-judicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud.
Siyal made these remarks replying to a question in a media talk on Thursday (today). “Enquiry is being carried out against Rao Anwar and if he is not found out guilty in the case, then he will be appointed again, otherwise, he will be certainly punished” Sindh Home Minster assured while expressing that the Sindh government being unjustly blamed in this matter.
He was talking to the media persons about the law and order situation of Karachi. “Peace is now prevailing after a very long in Karachi; the days of demanding extortion and discovering body bags are bygone” Siyal mentioned.
The Home Minster asserted that the law and order situation of Karachi is satisfactory, however, there is room for betterment. “We will not let anyone spoil the peace of Karachi now” Siyal vowed.
Naqeebullah Mehsud Murder case:
Inspector General of Police Sindh Allah Dino Khowaja removed SSP Malir Rao Anwar from his post on the recommendations of a three-member committee formed to investigate the killing of 27-year-old Naqeebullah Mehsud in an allegedly fake shootout.
In the 15-page report, the committee declared Naqeebullah innocent and rejected the claims made by suspended SSP Malir Rao Anwar in light of the evidences.
On January 13, Rao Anwar claimed to have shot dead four members of the defunct Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in an encounter near Shah Latif Town in Karachi.
Family members of a man, Naqeebullah Mehsud, claimed that he was killed in a fake encounter, triggering widespread public outrage over the extra-judicial killing.
