Khalida Riyasat was a diligent actress, one who possessed noteworthy talent and capable of providing exceptional performances on-screen.
Born on 1st January 1953, Khalida first starred in the drama Naamdaar during the 1970s. Though the detective series did garner her acclaim and praise, it wasn’t until Riyasat starred in Bandish, the Hasina Moin penned and Mohsin Ali produced drama which propelled her to stardom overnight.
Along with her contemporary actresses from that era Roohi Bano and Uzma Gillani, Khalida Riyasat dominated the entertainment industry as far as television dramas were concerned, mainly during the 70s and the 80s. Half-Playt, her humorous long play by Anwar Maqsood and in which the late Moin Akhtar also starred beside her, is hailed as one of the most wittiest long plays even till this day.
After years of entertaining the Pakistani audience, Khalida Riyasat called it a day with her last drama serial titled Parosi. After leaving the drama industry for good, Khalida RIyasat withered away in solitude at a hospital, after she contracted cancer until she died on 26th August, 1996.
