Replacement of IG Sindh kicks up quarrel between PPP, PML-N

KARACHI: The matter of replacement of inspector general of Sindh police has kicked up a quarrel between Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), as the former wants to remove AD Khawaja, while the latter conceives it as a malicious attempt.

The PPP has written to the center seeking replacement of AD Khawaja with one of the three suggested candidates. The Sindh’s ruling party has relieved Khawaja and surrendered his services to the federation.

Leader of PML-N and Federal Minister for Railways Saad Rafique said the PPP did not like AD Khawaja, who was appointed on merit, because he would not leave corrupt people.

He said the Sindh government wanted a domestic clerk in the form of an IG. The railways minister also said the PPP had ruined the province, hence it would not be given free-hand anymore.

He said this after inspecting locomotives of 4,000 horsepower that have arrived from the United States in Lahore.

On the other hand, PPP leader Maula Bakhsh Chandio said Saad Rafique should not interfere in the matter of IG Sindh.

“This does not suit the railways minister. He should stay clear from doing politics in the matter of replacement of the IG,” he said.

He said Saad should not be worried about Sindh.
