Retired Colonel killed in Karachi shooting

KARACHI: Unidentified gunmen shot a retired Colonel dead and two others injured in gun attack near Baloch Colony bridge in Karachi, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

According to police, motorbike riding gunmen opened fire at Colonel (retd) Tahir Zia at Shara-e-Faisal near Baloch Colony bridge, leaving him dead on the spot.

Two passersby Rehan and Momin Khan were also injured in the shooting incident.

Colonel Tahir was owner of a private institute. The killers shot him dead, when he was coming out after parking his car near his institute.

Police has found spent bullets of 9mm pistol from the crime scene.

“It is a likely targeted killing incident,” police officials said. Police further investigating into the incident, officials said.

Slain Colonel Tahir Zia had four bullet wounds on his face and chest.

I.G. Sindh Police A.D. Khawaja has directed the DIG East to submit a report about the killing incident.
