Road accident kills six, including municipal body official in Mastung

MASTUNG: At least six people were killed in a road accident including the Chairman Municipal Committee Kalat Ahmed Nawaz in Mastung, a district located in the north-west of Balochistan province, officials said.

The tragic incident occurred when a vehicle carrying Nawaz and his fellow councillors collided with a truck near the area of Dasht.

When the accident happened, the municipal chairman and others were en route to Quetta in their vehicle.

Because of the incident, six persons died on the spot including Ahmed Nawaz, a 10-year-old boy and three councillors.

Their bodies and injured were later shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta.

Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Zehri has expressed grief over the fatal incident that took precious lives.

He has also ordered to support the families of the victims at the time of distress.

Meanwhile, in another traffic accident, at least 27 people were killed and many others injured after a head-on collision between two buses carrying passengers in Rahim Yar Khan District of Punjab province.

Pakistan has one of the world’s worst records for fatal traffic accidents, blamed on poor roads, badly maintained vehicles and reckless driving.
