Rs 400 bln Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa budget to be announced today

PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s budget for fiscal year 2014-2015 will be presented in the provincial assembly this evening, ARY News reported on Saturday.

The total volume of the provincial budget  estimated to be at over 400 billion rupees will be announced by the province’s senior minister Siraj-ul-Haq in the assembly.

The provincial budget proposes raise in salaries of government employees and pensions.

The government has allocated 139 billion rupees for the provincial development programme including major energy, health and education sector projects.

The government has proposed Rs. one billion for improved facilities in hospitals in the province.

The provincial government has allocated Rs. seven billions for the poverty alleviation schemes.

The government has also proposed issuance of a food card for provision of low-price flour to the people.

In provincial budget five billion rupees have been earmarked for local bodies.

The government has allocated funds for a mass transit project in Peshawar.

The next budget of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa also proposes setting up model police stations to fight against terrorism.

The provincial cabinet will approve the budget proposals in a meeting before the budget session of the assembly.
