Rs 190 bln to be spent on ‘Operation Zarb-e-Azb’, Dar informs Senate

Speaking on an adjournment motion of People’s Party’s Sherry Rehman, Ishaq Dar said that the net loans on Pakistan borrowed by governments reached to the volume of 51.4 billion dollars.

He said the total spending on ‘Operation Zarb-e-Azb’ will be 190 billion rupees. Giving details of the spending on military offensive against terrorists in North Waziristan tribal region the finance minister said that Pakistan spent Rs 45 bln last year, while Rs 100 billion have been allocated for the operation this year.

Replying a question about secret funding of the intelligence agencies Dar said that only two secret agencies being provided funds out of total 34 agencies .

Earlier, the members of the opposition vehemently protested on the government’s behavior over China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and said that the government should address reservations of the opposition parties over the issue.

Opposition senators said that only eastern alignment of the Corridor has been part of the agreement with China due to which no energy projects are being installed on the western alignment of the mega project.
