SA beats Pakistan by 117 runs to seal 4-1 series win

SHARJAH: South Africa continued their domination with the third successive victory in the fifth ODI against Pakistan on Monday, ARY News reported.

South Africa has clinched the series by 4-1 with a convincing victory of 117 runs in the final ODI of the series.

Top order of Pakistan has once again collapsed during the chase of 269 runs, they were 17-3 at one stage.

Captain Misbah-ul-Haq scored 18 runs in a short partnership of 39 runs with Shoaib Maqsood.

Maqsood scored 53 runs but the rest of the batsmen failed to play their part. Umar Akmal was the second top scorer of Pakistan’s inning with 30 runs.

Wayne Parnell was the at the peak of the South African bowlers with 3 for 36 in seven overs, while Vernon Philander, Ryan McLaren and JP Duminy picked two wickets each.

South African captain AB de Villiers, who scored 115 runs, became the fastest South African to 6,000 ODI runs, in 147 innings.

AB de Villiers started off the inning in a slow pace but changed the mood to aggressive on a surface that was difficult for batting and help his team to a total of 268.

The first T20 off two matches series at Dubai International Cricket Stadium will be played on November 13 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
