Salman Iqbal kick starts Sar-e-Aam campaign to pay tribute to APS martyrs

KARACHI: President and CEO ARY Digital Network Salman Iqbal has kick started a campaign initiated by ARY News’ Sar-e-Aam team to pay a befitting tribute to the children who lost their lives in the 2014 Army Public School attack.

In a video message on his social media page, Sar-e-Aam host Iqar-ul-Hassan announced that his team has started a campaign to renovate government-run schools in the country with President and CEO ARY Digital Network Salman Iqbal kick-starting the drive by taking the responsibility of renovation of a government-run school in Karachi.

Iqrar-ul-Hassan announced that government-run schools across the country will not only be renovated but his team will also provide whiteboards, furniture and water dispensers to schools who lack such facilities.

“My team will also paint walls of different government-run schools and if by the end of this campaign, a single child from some poor village will ask his mother to admit him to (govt-run) school, I will consider my mission fulfilled.

It is pertinent to note here that last year, Sar-e-Aam team sent at least 116 children to school to pay tribute to 116 children who lost their lives in the horrific terror attack.

THE APS MASSACRE

On December 16, 2014, six gunmen affiliated with the Tehreek-i-Taliban (TTP) conducted a terrorist attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar.

The militants, all of whom were foreign nationals entered the school and opened fire on school staff and children, killing 144 people including more than a 100 schoolchildren, ranging between eight and eighteen years of age.
