KARACHI: Police have recovered 12 laptops and tablet computers and more than 20 USBs in a raid at the house of the main accused in assassination bid of Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan, ARY News reported.

Sources said the forensic process of all the electronic items is being carried out.

The MQM leader had escaped the attack on Saturday but a policeman and a boy were killed.

Abdul Karim Sarosh Siddiqui of Ansarul Shariah is said to have masterminded the attack on MQM MPA.

‘The encounter he escaped’

Sarosh was injured during an exchange of fire with the police but managed to flee the scene on Monday. His father was arrested.

A policeman was martyred while another received bullet injuries when Sarosh opened fire on them during the gun battle in Kaneez Fatima Society, SSP Malir Rao Anwar had said.

He said the police mounted a cordon following a tip-off that the terrorist was present in the area. On being sighted, the suspect opened fire on the police team from the rooftop, leaving a personnel dead on the spot and another injured, he added.

Rao said Sarosh managed to flee the raid and efforts were underway to arrest him adding that he was associated with the banned outfit, Ansar ul Sharia Pakistan (ASP), he added.

The police officer said six suspects, including Siddiqui’s father, were arrested from the premises of the building and were shifted to an unidentified place for interrogation. Several other suspects were also arrested from the area, he added.
