KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has found no bank account of Imran Ali, the key suspect in the Zainab rape and murder case, ARY News reported.

Sources said following the Supreme Court order, the SBP summoned details from private banks, if any, of the accounts allegedly being operated by the suspect.

They said the SBP was still gathering information about the alleged accounts and the details would be submitted to the apex court.

The apex court a day earlier ordered an inquiry into the claims of senior journalist and anchorperson Shahid Masood that an international ring of child sexual abuse was behind Imran, who he said, held as many as 37 accounts.

Mr Masood has been under fire since he made claims that an entire gang was behind the man arrested in connection with the rape and murder of seven-year old Zainab in Kasur, questioning veracity of such claims.

During his TV show on January 24, Shahid Masood had claimed that the accused in Zainab murder, rape case did not act alone as he was a part of an international violent child pornography ring.

He maintained that he has evidence that Imran Arshad has at least 37 foreign currency accounts under his name and his group’s activities are backed by a senior political figure.
