ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has fixed October 29 (Monday) as the date for the hearing of National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) review plea on the top court’s verdict of dismissal of appeal regarding reopening Hudaibiya Paper Mills case.

A three-judge special bench headed by Justice Mushir Alam and comprising Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel will take up the review petition on Monday.

Justice Asif Saeed Khosa had directed that Hudaibiya Paper Mills case be reopened during the hearing of the Panama Papers case.

On December 15, 2017, a three-member Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Mushir Alam had dismissed NAB’s appeal to reopen the Hudaibiya Paper Mills case against ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and members of his family.

The NAB had then filed an appeal on the apex court’s decision.

In the review petition, the anti-graft body has pleaded for a probe into the multi-billion corruption scam which inflicted heavy losses to the national exchequer.

The anti-graft watchdog through its Prosecutor General Waqas Qadeer Dar had filed the appeal, pleading the top court to grant leave to appeal to examine the legality, and propriety of the 2014 LHC verdict quashing the Hudaibiya Paper Mills case and set aside the impugned judgement.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif, Shamim Akhtar, mother of Nawaz, Shehbaz and late Abbas Sharif, Maryam Safdar, Hussain Nawaz, Hamza Shehbaz, Hudaibiya Paper Mills Ltd and others were named as respondents in the appeal.
