SC reinstates Pervez Rathore as Chairman PEMRA

A two member bench comprising of Chief Justice of Pakistan Nasir-ul-Mulk and Justice Musheer Aalam heard the appeal filed by Pervez Rathore.

Advocate Mehmood Shaikh, representing the state, said that IHC had announced the verdict in the initial stages which was not requested in the plea. He also said that not only the court dismissed Pervez Rathore but it also stopped the government to appoint a chairman.

Lawyer representing petitioner Shamsuddin, in his arguments, said that the decision to remove Rathore was made according to the law as President has the right to appoint PEMRA chief as per the constitution whereas the notification was issued by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

CJ Nasir-ul-Mulk, in the verdict, said that President Mamnoon Hussain rectified the mistake by sending the notification and the court cannot announce interim order without completing the formal proceedings.
