The bird was trying to scavenge meat from a bin at food factory when it fell into the container.

It was rescued by workers of the factory located in Wales, and later a volunteer picked to send it to the Vale wildlife hospital near Gloucestershire.

The hospital used washing liquid to remove the bright orange colour from the seagull’s feathers. However, they have not been able to remove the smell of the curry.

Lucy Kells who is a veterinary nurse at the hospital, said:

‘He really surprised everyone here – we had never seen anything like it before. He had fallen into a waste vat of curry that was outside, it was chicken tikka masala. The thing that shocked us the most was the smell. He smelled amazing, he really smelled good’

The bird  has been nicknamed “Gullfrazie” on Facebook. It appears to be around two years old due to the color of its feathers.

It has been put into a cage now and staff are feeding it meat, dog and cat food and pieces of chopped fish to build up his weight.

Kells said that the seagull was a bit skinny before so they are building up on his strength.

‘I guess that’s why he was trying to get a piece of meat from the vat and fell in,’ she said.

The bird will be transferred to large outside cage before being released into the wild.
