Second day play of Pak-NZ Test suspended after Hughes death

According to match officials, the Pak-NZ test will be extended till Monday (December 1) after suspension of the game on Thursday to mourn death of a budding cricketer.

Hughes, who played 26 Tests, collapsed after being hit by a Sean Abbott bouncer during a Sheffield Shield game between South Australia and New South Wales at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Tuesday.

Hughes, who was due to celebrate his 26th birthday this weekend, was in his third day of intensive care in an induced coma after surgery.

Condolences from across the cricketing world including Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, as well as Australian prime minister and other prominent figures have poured in after the death of the Australian cricketer. They expressed their grievances over the tragic and irreparable loss.

Opener Mohammad Hafeez struck a dominating century to lift Pakistan to 281-3 in the third and final Test against New Zealand in Sharjah on the first day on Wednesday.
