Security guard shoots pangolin in Karachi

The security guard, who claimed that the pangolin was attacking him, reportedly shot the reptile five times. He fired three bullets into the mammal three times in the abdomen and twice on its legs.

Co-Founder and director of Pakistan Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) Mahera Omar stated that a person saw the mammal in grave condition and called for help on social media. She added that she requested Dr. Ali Ayaz to provide medical assistance.

Dr. Ayaz arrived at the scene with his assistance and took the animal to his clinic in Gulshan area.

The pangolin is said to be in critical condition.

According to sources, the mammal is the most trafficked animal in the world and is on the brink of extinction.
