Security on high alert in Karachi after Hub blast

KARACHI: Inspector General Police Sindh has issued security high alert in Karachi  in view of suicide attack at dargah Shah Noorani.

IGP Sindh AD. Khwaja has directed all police officials to enhance security arrangements at sensitive installations, mosques, imam bargas and mazars in the city.

At least 52 people were killed while 105 others were injured as a blast struck famous Shah Noorani shrine in Balochistan’s Hub area.

The blast occurred at the place where the pilgrims used to carry out Dhamaal (ritual dance) leaving scores of pilgrims injured in the premises of the shrine located some 760 kilometers (472 miles) south of provincial capital Quetta.

Interior Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti confirmed that at least 52 people have been killed in the deadly blast while 105 others are injured. Earlier Bugti had confirmed at least 43 deaths.

It was not clear whether the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber or a planted device, according to Bugti.
