SSP Korangi Junaid Sheikh has confirmed recovery of bodies from the factory tank. The factory is located in Allah Wala town near Korangi crossing.
The police officer said one labourer fell in the chemical tank and others jumped into the tank to save their colleague, but all of them met a tragic fate.
According to initial reports, one Mehtab, a factory owner, is also among the deceased persons. He was the resident of Delhi Colony.
Sources told that it was a pickle (achaar) making factory. While a chemical, a salty substance, was kept in the tank to be used for preparation of achaar.
The corpses were moved to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities. Five of them were identified as Adnan, Nawaz, Sohail, Imran and Saleem.
Six of the deceased persons were labourers by profession.
