LAHORE: Routine life in several cities of Punjab came to a standstill as fog engulfed parts of the province, leading to road mishaps and closure of some sections of motorway.
Dense fog prompted authorities to take immediate measures including closing sections of motorway. At least six people were killed when a car plunged into river near Shujabad.
According to spokesman of Motorways Police, as a result of thick fog M-4 from Faisalabad to Gogra section has also been closed.
Motorway Police said motorway M-2 from Lahore has also been closed.
There is zero visibility at several places of Motorway and National Highway. Dense fog is prevailing in Mian Channu, Khanewal, Multan and Bahawalpur.
Police have advised the drivers to use fog lights during the fog. It also asked them to avoid unnecessary travel at night and during the fog. Motorway Police have asked the citizens to contact on number 130 in case of fog-related emergency.
