In the 19-year-old case, a report was submitted to declare all named suspects including Altaf Hussain, Nadeem Nusrat and Sohail Zaidi most wanted upon which the ATC gave its judgment today and adjourned the hearing until August 5.

An anti-terrorism court had already executed another Muttahida Qaumi Movement worker Saulat Ali Khan, also famous as Saulat Mirza, in Machh Jail Balochistan on May 12, 2015, after putting him on a death row in 1999 in this case.

Shahid Hamid’s widow former bureaucrat Shahnaz Hamid and her police officer son, Omar Shahid Hamid, who were also the eyewitnesses, had picked out Qazi as one of the four hitmen during an identification parade held before a judicial magistrate on May 2016.

They had also identified Saulat Mirza as one of the shooters who killed Shahid Hamid.

Shahid Hamid’s family has always insisted that he was working against corrupt elements and reorganising the power utility, but some people were not happy with the efforts.
