Sharif, Cameron agree to enhance cooperation in security, trade

On the occasion, PM Sharif once again invited India for talks without any preconditions. He said that regional stability is not possible in the absence of durable peace.

The two heads of states also exchanged views on situation in Afghanistan. The Pakistan premier said that participation of friendly states in Afghan reconciliation process will prove to be favorable.

PM Sharif said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its ties with Commonwealth and stressed on the need of strengthening of cooperation between member states in view of multi-dimensional challenges.

He said that Pakistan considers UK its close friend and a reliable partner.

Both the leaders agreed to enhance cooperation in the fields of trade and security

Meeting with French president

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also held a meeting with the French President François Hollande and expressed sorrow over Paris attacks.

He said that Pakistan is ready to cooperate with France in countering terrorism.

President Hollande appreciated Pakistan’s resolve to root out terrorism and the sacrifices laid by the Pakistani armed forces and the civilians.

PM greets newly elected secretary general of Commonwealth

PM Nawaz Sharif also met with the newly elected Secretary General of Commonwealth, Baroness Patricia Scotland and greeted her on election to the post.

Baroness Scotland expressed gratitude for the support extended by Pakistan during the election. She said that Pakistan was an important member of the Commonwealth and looked forward to working closely with Pakistan.

PM Sharif said that Pakistan attached importance to Commonwealth, particularly the core values of democracy, freedom, peace, the rule of law, and opportunity for all.

He extended Baroness Scotland an invitation to visit Pakistan at her earliest convenience.
