Sharjah Test: Phillip Hughes remembered

It should be noted that Phillip Hughes passed away at a hospital in Australia after suffering from a head injury after he was struck by a bouncer from fast bowler Sean Abbott during a domestic cricket match which left the cricketing world in shock. He never regained consciousness.

Pakistani and New Zealand players had agreed to abandon the second day’s play on Thursday in respect for the late Australian cricketer. The Kiwi teams, paying tribute to Phillip Hughes, had placed their bats outside their locker rooms.

The match has been extended by a day. The two sides are playing the match with black armbands.

Pakistan started day two of the Sharjah test match 281/3 with captain Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez at the crease with scores of 38 and 178 runs respectively.

Captain Misbah was caught by wicketkeeper BJ Watling from the bowling of Tim Southee after scoring 38 runs.

Pakistan is batting at 302/4 with Hafeez and Asad Shafiq not out at 193 and six runs respectively.
