ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s only Oscar-winning documentary director Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy achieved another milestone as she won the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award for her award-winning documentary titled “A Girl In The River: The Price of Forgiveness”.

It should be noted that duPont-Columbia award is said to be the Pulitzer prize of broadcasting.

This is her second Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award win. She clinched the award earlier for her documentary named Children of the Taliban in 2010.

The awards will be given to the winners on January 25, 2017 at the awards’ 75th anniversary celebrations at Low Memorial Library.

“A Girl In The River: The Price of Forgiveness” had won the award in Best Documentary Short category in the 2015 Academy Awards.

The documentary tells the story of a teenage girl who escapes a honour killing bid.

Seems like the director is having a great month as her film ‘3 Bahadur – The Revenge of Baba Balaam’ is running successfully across cinemas in the country.

The story line revolves around three friends who find themselves at odds with each other after successfully reclaiming their town from Mangu the villain. When Deenu their trusted friend lands into trouble they have to find a way to come together again. They know that only then can they defeat the all powerful Baba Balaam who seems to have cast a spell on their bustling Roshan Basti.
