Sharmeen Obaid’s webseries ‘Aagahi’ shortlisted for international festival

Oscar-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s awareness series Aagahi has made it to the international festival Cannes Lions 2019.

It has been shortlisted for 66th Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity under the ‘Sustainable Development Goals Lions in the Gender Equality’ category.

The campaign aims to educate women about their legal rights in Pakistan. Chinoy shared the news on Instagram and said she is really proud of her team.

Over the past seven months, SOC Films has released a series of short animated films in Urdu in collaboration with Womens Action Forum. Aagahi sheds light on different issues pertaining to women including domestic violence, cyber bullying and divorce.

Actress Amna Ilyas has lent her voice to the public service campaign.

Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity brings the creative communications industry together every year to learn, network and celebrate each other’s work. The award ceremony will take place on June 21 to announce the winners.
