SHC hears plea against transfer of KKF money laundering case to Islamabad

KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) submitted its reply in Sindh High Court (SHC) over the plea filed by former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) senator Ahmed Ali against transfer of money laundering case to Islamabad, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

Assistant Director FIA Ijaz Ahmed appeared in the court and submitted the FIA reply in the high court about the Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF) money laundering case.

The court on the plea of Ahmed Ali reissued notice to the Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF).

A two-member bench comprising Justice Aftab Ahmed Gorar and Justice Amjad Ali Sehto hearing the case.

The bench asked the FIA official whether the KKF was still operating (in the city).

The Foundation, though not in paper still working on the ground, the FIA official replied.

Former senator Ahmed Ali himself remained the part of the KKF, Assistant Attorney General said.

The bailiff informed the bench the office of KKF was shutdown, so as the court notice could not be served.

The bench ordered fixing hearing of the case after the court holidays.

The petition, filed by the former senator, maintains that the transfer of the KKF money laundering case from Karachi to Islamabad is illegal.

It argues that the director general FIA and the interior ministry have violated the law and pleaded that the transfer of the case to Islamabad be declared illegal and void.
