Sindh govt using public funds to run political campaign? SHC seeks reply

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday – while hearing a petition pertaining to Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP)’s political campaign through advertisements with public expenditure – has sought a reply from Sindh government on the matter, ARY News reported.
The court was hearing a petition, stipulating that the PPP is spending taxpayers’ money to promote its political campaign through televised and news papers’ advertisements.
The petition was filed by Advocate Yaqoob Lakher, alleging that despite court orders the party is advertising its political campaign by promoting the party Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari through advertisements in Print and Electronic media on public expenditure.
Sindh Government, Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Speaker Sindh Assembly, provincial departments of Culture, Information & Advertisement department, and Federal government have been made party in the petition.
The court has sought a reply from the provincial government and adjourned the hearing till unspecified date.
