SHCC seals operation theatre of a Karachi hospital during inspection visit

KARACHI: The anti-quackery team of Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) on Friday visited different hospitals of Karachi for inspections over complaints filed against them, ARY News reported.

During the visit, the SHCC team sealed operation theatre of Hilal-e-Ahmer Hospital, while Arif Medical Center was also sealed due to several irregularities.

The team also visited Saifi Hospital and Taj Medical Complex over complaints filed against their alleged negligence in healthcare facilities. The spokesperson of the SHCC said 90 more hospitals had filed applications for registration and they were being analyzed by the team.

He informed that 69 health centers had been issued registration certificates.

The team also visited hospitals in Hazara Colony and Qayumabad due to rampant complaints of quack doctors in these areas.

‘So far, registration of 4,414 hospitals has been completed.’

On April 24, a plea as filed in the Sindh High Court (SHC) against flawed performance of the Sindh Health Care Commission. The complainant said the number of sub-standard and unregistered hospitals and clinics were rising in the megalopolis.

He said the Sindh Health Care Commission had shown negligence in Nishwa’s case as well. At least 95 nurses’ were untrained in Darul Sehat hospital, he added.

The plaintiff requested the high court to summon performance report of the Sindh Health Care Commission. He said the commission was responsible for complete monitoring of hospitals, clinics and other health facilities in the province.
