Shiv Sena wants Salman to migrate to Pakistan for loving its artists

MUMBAI: Saying Salman Khan needs to be taught a lesson, Shiv Sena, a hardliner Indian political party, advised the Indian star actor on Saturday to migrate to Pakistan if he loves Pakistani artists.

Bollywood heartthrob Salman Khan faced a hated reaction after he came out in full support of Pakistan artists being threatened to leave India recently amid rising tensions between the two countries.

At an event in the Indian capital on Friday, the Sultan star spoke in favour of Pakistani artists and criticised the Indian government that it should respect artists if it welcomes them in India.

“They are artists, not terrorists. It’s the government who gives them work permits and visas. Art and terrorism should not be mixed,” said Salman Khan.

This very statement for Pakistani artists’ fraternity angered Shiv Sena – a party that has a history of launching hate campaigns against prominent figures from Pakistan visiting India.

The party said the Indian actor should migrate to Pakistan if he likes the Pakistani actors and even threatened that he actually needs a lesson.

“Salman Khan needs to be taught a lesson. If he has so much love for Pakistani artists, he should migrate there,” said Shiv Sena leader Manisha Kayande.

Salman Khan supported Pakistani actors following an appeal by the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) to its members that they should not work with artists including singers or technicians from Pakistan until the situation between the two neighbours normalises.

Earlier, the film workers association of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) set a 48-hour deadline for Pakistani artists to leave India or face consequences.

Salman Khan had even telephoned MNS President Raj Thackeray and requested him to stop his campaign aimed at banning the release of ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and ‘Raees’ featuring Pakistan’s Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan.
