Sindh Assembly turns into a battlefield over LG system

KARACHI: Opposition parties in the Sindh Assembly protested strongly against the provincial government for not facilitating the bill regarding amendments in the Local Government (LG) system on Friday – ARY News reports.

According to details, the session of the assembly was called at the requisition by the opposition. During which, the opposition parties tried to table their amendments, but the Speaker Aga Siraj Durrani did not allow and presented the amendment bill by the Sindh Government.

At this, the opposition flared up chanting slogans and tore apart the copies of the session's agenda.

During all this chaos, the provincial government got its amendments passed by the members, while the opposition walked out of the House.

Outside the House, opposition leader Faisal Sabzwari strongly criticized the Sindh Government and said it is wishful thinking of the provincial government to bring a mayor in Karachi from its own ranks.

PMLF leader, Imtiaz Sheikh said that there is no place for the voice of the people in the Sindh Assembly; few people have got their bill passed for the entire province.

Later, the session of the Assembly was adjourned for an indefinite period.

Moreover, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon while talking to media after the session, also lashed out at opposition labeling the opposition parties as the supporters of former dictator General (R) Pervez Musharraf.

He added that the opposition parties had supported the LFO presented by Pervez Musharraf.
