Sindh education minister Sardar Shah pays surprise visit to schools and colleges

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Education Syed Sardar Ali Shah on Saturday paid a surprise visit to city’s schools and colleges and checked the attendance of teachers, ARY News reported.

In one his visits, Shah made it to Government Boys Secondary School in Shirin Jinnah Colony and inquired names of students from the teacher.

Upon not getting a satisfactory answer, the minister expressed his resentment, saying a dedicated teacher knows all his students by name.

It was also found during the visit one of the teachers would skip school to attend administration duties of another school. The minister asked the school headmistress to take necessary action in this regard.

The minister also visited Government Degree Girls College Zamzama and found some of the teachers absent from their duty. He directed the officials concerned to serve a show-cause notice to the teacher.

He also grilled the college principal over poor cleanliness condition despite sweepers.

Earlier this week, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah had directed the varsity administration to improve education standard of the University of Karachi.

CM Shah made the remarks while chairing a high-level meeting relating to the varsity. The meeting was attended by KU’s Vice Chancellor Ajmal Khan, KU secretary and other officials.

The chief minister said that the Sindh government wanted to restore the status of the varsity for which it had been renowned for its highest education standards.
