Earlier, the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department Sindh wrote a letter to Establishment Division in Islamabad,  dated March 31. The Sindh government has requested the federation to replace AD Khawaja as IG Sindh police.

Former police chief Ghulam Qadir Thebo, who is currently serving as chairman Enquiries and Anti-Corruption Establishment, is also amongst the three proposed candidates for the post along Sardar Dasti.

AD Khawaja was appointed as IG Sindh on March 12 last year, but gradually developed a rift with the Sindh government. In December 2016, he was sent on forced leave but the order was halted by the Sindh High Court.
