KARACHI: PML-N leader Muhammad Zubair Umar who will soon take charge as new Sindh Governor, on Wednesday said that Karachi’s economic revival will be his top priority as the province’s governor.

Talking exclusively to ARY News, Zubair maintained that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), in past, did not understand Karachi as the city always was and will be vibrant due to private sector’s economic activity.

“A fight which started for 200 government jobs whisked away hundreds and thousands of job opportunities created by private sector as industries moved to other places,” said Muhammad Zubair.

He said that the economic activity and growth came to a halt in last two decades in the city due to law and order situation but PML-N government took a bold decision and started an operation which brought peace in Karachi.

“Due to the operation, the situation in Karachi has changed for better. Now economic activity should be revived,” said Zubair Umar.

The federal government on Monday appointed Zubair as the 32nd governor of Sindh after President Mamnoon Hussain approved the summary about his appointment.

He is likely to take the oath of his office on Thursday.

Zubair, who was previously serving as Minister of State for Privatization, is considered a close confidant of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He is the elder brother of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central executive committee member, Asad Umar.
