Sindh govt decides to launch crackdown on beggars in Karachi

KARACHI: The government of Sindh on Friday decided to launch crackdown on professional beggars in Karachi, ARY News reported.

According to details, the Sindh cabinet meeting will devise strategy for the crackdown in a meeting on Saturday.

ARY News correspondent Arbab Chandio said that in the meeting the provincial government would also mull over ways to improve functioning of the Child Protection Authority. He said construction work on a children welfare home had entered last stages.

Chandio said those children whose parents were alive would be handed over to their parents with the warning that strict action would be taken if they were seen begging again.

“While, a centre would be established in Korangi where orphan child beggars would get free food as well as education and training,” he said.

The plan of action includes providing grown up paupers a shelter for three years.

It is pertinent to mention that rackets of beggars also use minor kids in sweltering and freezing weathers for their personal interest.

They have invented several new methods to get money from people. According to a report, number of beggars have doubles in three years.
