KARACHI: Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister Murtaza Wahab on Monday announced to accommodate 3,500 displaced shopkeepers, who were affected during the ongoing anti-encroachment drive in Karachi.
According to the details, Murtaza Wahab said that the provincial government has prepared a list of 3,500 affected shopkeepers, in the first phase, for accommodation in collaboration with the Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar and the commissioner Karachi.
He said the affected shopkeepers will be provided alternative places for business in different areas of the metropolis Karachi.
Murtaza Wahab said that the affectees will be provided alternates spaces after verification of concerned documents. He retreated the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) resolve that his party will not make people homeless.
LG to provide alternative space to affectees of anti-encroachment: Karachi Mayor
It is pertinent to mention here that Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar, on November 25, had announced that local government (LG) to provide alternative space to affectees of anti-encroachment, including the affectees of Empress market.
Talking to ARY News, Wasim Akhtar said that affectees of Empress market will be provided alternate at Shahabuddin Market. He said that all the affectees of anti-encroachment will be provided alternate at different sites, laying vacant under the control of city government. ” No substitute for those who encroached on public property”, he added.
