MQM’s Wasim Akhtar sent on four-day physical remand

The court has also ordered to provide security to Karachi mayor nominee.

Sindh High Court turned down Akhtar’s bail plea earlier today after his application, in Dr Asim Hussain terror facilitation case, attracted an objection from the court

The Karachi court also rejected Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader Anis Qaimkhani’s bail application in the same case, asking him to contact the trial court.

Sources informed ARY News that as per court orders, Qaimkhani’s legal representative has contacted the ATC.

Another MQM leader Abdul Rauf Siddiqui along with Qaimkhani and Akhtar have been in Central Jail Karachi since Tuesday in the case pertaining to providing treatment and shelter to alleged terrorists in hospitals run by Dr Asim Hussain, a close aide of former president Asif Ali Zardari.

An anti-terrorism court on July 19 rejected their interim bail pleas following which they were arrested.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Abdul Qadir Patel, who was also sent to jail in the case, had to surrender himself to the police later on the same day.

Lawyers of the MQM and PSP politicians had later challenged their bail rejection at the Karachi court yesterday.

Wasim Akhtar, Abdul Rauf Siddiqui, Anis Qaimkhani, Abdul Qadir Patel others have been facing charges of allegedly asking the former petroleum minister Dr Asim to provide treatment and shelter to alleged terrorists and gangsters at his hospitals including Ziauddin Hospital.
