Sindh prepares for high flood in Indus

Indus will enter in Sindh with raging fury of a high to very high flood at Guddu and Sukkur barrages in coming days, the Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) has warned.

The flood body has predicted that the flooding waters of Indus will enter in Sindh at Guddu between Sept 13 and 14 and at Sukkur on Sept 15.

FFD has advised the relevant authorities to take precautionary measures to avoid losses to life and property in the province.

According to provincial irrigation department mighty Indus with high flood of 10,000,00 cusecs will pass through Sukkur on September 14 to 15. The officials claimed that all protective measures have been taken to meet the flood situation. Two closed gates of Sukkur barrage have been opened after silt clearance, the officials furhter said.

According to sources, the protective dykes of Tori and Qureshi in Sukkur district will be ‘sensitive’ during the flood situation in the region.

The government of Sindh has under the flood emergency situation has issued high alert for the irrigation department, disaster management authority and other concerned departments and have cancelled the leaves of the department employees.
