The emir of JI, Sirajul Haq led the funeral prayers, which were attended by a large number of JI activists and commoners.
Talking to media on the occasion, Sirajul Haq lamented that the rulers of Pakistan and the entire Muslim Ummah have turned ignorant towards the hardships faced by the Muslims all over the world.
He said that the Bangladesh PM, Haseena Wajid will have to pay the price for shedding the blood of martyrs.
“Professor Ghulam Azam spent all his life in dissemination of Islam and embraced martyrdom, and his services can never be forgotten”, said the JI emir.
Ghulam Azam, who was sentenced last year to 90 years in prison for leading pro-Pakistan struggle during the Bangladeshi’s 1971 independence war, died late Thursday aged 91.
Azam was the wartime head of Jamat e Islami — the country’s largest Islamist party, later turning into its spiritual leader and a key player in the country’s politics.
