Jiah had committed suicide in June 2013 and left everyone horrified. The Bollywood actress was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside her Juhu flat. After she had died, speculations arose and fingers were pointed at Hero actor Sooraj Pancholi, who was in a relationship with Jiah. Sooraj was accused of being responsible for Jiah’s suicide by driving her to depression and emotional instability.
A report filed by CBI alleged that both actors had met each through Facebook in 2012 and began a romantic relationship. The report also stated that a lengthy note had been seized by police days after Jiah’s suicide which had been written by the actress herself, in which she detailed her physical abuse and mental torture at the hands of Sooraj.
“It was alleged that a 3-page note seized by the state police on 10/06/2013 was written by Ms Jiah Khan, which narrated her intimate relationship, physical abuse and mental torture that she experienced at the hands of the said private person (Pancholi). The documents and the material objects of this case have been thoroughly and scientifically examined,” said the report.
“The Board of Forensic Medicine Experts has opined that the death was suicidal in nature, which corroborated the observation and opinion of the post-mortem doctor. The forensic statement-analysis of the note written by the deceased has opined that the said note allegedly represents her mental status genuinely and the circumstances and reasons behind her suicide.”
The analysis of the CBI also said that Sooraj Pancholi was concealing relevant information pertaining to this case and that his statement was incomplete and fabricated. According to the investigation, it was also said that on the day she committed suicide, Jiah had left Sooraj’s house after staying there for a couple of days, due to an argument. A couple of heated calls and angry messages had been exchanged between the two and Sooraj had deleted the chat from his cellphone.
