Special Azadi train leaves Peshawar for Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD: The special Azadi train left Peshawar for Rawalpindi on Sunday morning.

Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Asad Qaiser, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Saqib Raza Aslam, Divisional Superintendent Pakistan Railway Hanif Gul and a large number of people saw off the train.

Speaking on the occasion, the speaker appreciated efforts of Pakistan Railways for displaying historic pictures in the train.

Referring to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the speaker said it will usher new era of development and prosperity.

The Azadi train will reach Karachi on 25th of this month after passing through different cities.

The Azadi Train comprises of five spectacular art galleries, depicting the sacrifices rendered by people in the independence movement. It portrays the culture of the four provinces – Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan , Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. A float depicting the scarifies of armed forces and their role in natural calamities in the country catches visitors’ fancy. It also exhibits weaponry made by Pakistan Ordinance Factories.
