Mughal-e-Azam is regarded as one of the most iconic and classical films in the history of Indian cinema. The critically acclaimed film was praised for every aspect and left a deep impact on our mind.

The 1960 magnum opus was directed by K. Asif starred legend actors Dilip Kumar, Prithviraj Kapoor and Madhubala in lead roles.

Many Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone and others have praised the film in a documentary made on the epic historical drama.

However, Shah Rukh Khan has deep emotional attachment to this film. He owns the original camera on which the film was shot, which is reportedly kept on the first floor of his house Mannat in Mumbai.

SRK also revealed long ago that his late father Mir Taj Mohammed Khan was sacked from the film after working for just one day for being a bad actor.

The director of the film even suggested that he must go and give birth to an actor.

“My father was selected for a Pathan’s role and he performed so badly that Asif sahab threw him out of the film. My father would say to me when I was small that Asif saab told him to go back home and give birth to an actor,” he reminisced.

This might be a blessing in disguise as life comes in a full circle, and SRK tuned into a superstar and one of the greatest actors in the world.

He even narrated a documentary of the same epic film which was produced under his own banner Red Chillies Entertainment.  It is now understood why SRK is so attached to the film.
