Stabilizing national economy is top priority; PM Nawaz to GIC

LONDON: Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif has said that stabilizing the economy of Pakistan is the top most priority of his Government and for this purpose comprehensive measures are being taken – ARY News reports.

He was addressing the Global Investment Conference (GIC) here on Wednesday. The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif said that restoration of weakened economy of Pakistan is the top most priority and by the time he took over Pakistan, expenses were reduced up to 40 percent.

He told that comprehensive measures are being taken in the country for economic stability, after which widespread investment opportunities have occurred there.

PM Nawaz Sharif is representing Pakistan in the GIC, while Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar, Chief Minister of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif and Chief Minister of Balochistan, Dr Abdul Malik Baloch are also accompanied him during the conference.

Earlier to this, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met the British Prime Minister, David Cameron at his residence located at the 10 Downing Street.

During the meeting, PM Nawaz said that Pakistani soil will not be used against any state. He also said that talks with Taliban were initiated, with sincerity to restore peace in the country.

On this occasion, British PM David Cameron said that Pak-Britain ties hold vital significance and Pakistan will be provided all possible assistance in order to cope with terrorism.

He vowed to extend cooperation with Pakistan in all fields including bilateral trade.
