State of economic affairs briefing held to take NA members into confidence: Awan

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Firdous Ashiq Awan addressed the media after a high level meeting chaired by the Prime Minister of Pakistan and briefed by Financial Advisor to the State, Abdul Hafeez Sheikh and his economic team ended today, Monday.

The high level session and briefing over the state of economic affairs in the country was held to take the members of the parliament into confidence over the terms and conditions agreed and finalized between International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Amnesty scheme which the county is looking to re-introduce.

“The members of the National assembly were briefed in detail about the pros and cons of the current economic developments and were assured that the interest of the country trumps any political interest for the current government,” revealed Awan.

“We will ensure and safeguard public interest, we must concentrate on long-term solutions for the betterment of the country’s economic situation,” emphasized Awan.

“Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf is here to fight the status quo and overcome structural obstacles in the path to economic prosperity,” added Awan.

Awan also went on to say that the session was important in terms of taking the parliamentarians in confidence before the upcoming budget.

“Members of parliament were directed to focus their energies towards their candidacies and those involved in hording edibles and rations will be acted against,” revealed the state advisor.

Awan also expressed resolve to provide relief to the general populace.
