Strong monsoon system brings more rain to Punjab, KP, AJK

ISLAMABAD: A strong monsoon system brought more rainfall in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

In Punjab, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Wazirabad, Jhelum, Gujrat, Khushab and Bahawalnagar received heavy rains. Maximum rainfall 135mm received in Lahore’s Nishtar Town.

Wazirabad and outskirts received continuous rainfall for four hours. Heavy rainfall turned streets and markets in Nankana Sahib into canals.

A rooftop collapsed in Malikwal, leaving a nine-month infant dead and two others injured.

Peshawar, Khyber, Bannu, Karak, Malakand, Abbottabad in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir’s Bagh, Mirpur and Bhimber districts received heavy rains. The rainwater entered in markets and homes in various neighborhoods.

The local streams, drains and nullahs flooded with rainfall. Heavy rain caused flooding in Buner river, while the rainwater submerged low lying areas.
