Nowadays, the Indian film industry has been making a name for itself as a powerful cinema industry. With stars such as Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Nargis Fakhri making it big on the international scene, some celebrities such as Sunny Deol have faded into oblivion.

Most recently, the Bollywood actor spoke out against his contemporary actors and said that it was sad to see them become commodities rather than actors. He said despite the changing trends of Bollywood, he had remained focused on his ideals and remain unchanged.

“The industry and country have changed so fast. But my belief and thoughts didn’t change along. I always thought that acting was basically an art where you are performing. You’re picking up subjects and cinema was basically a reflection of the society,” he said from the sets of an Indian show Yaar Mera Superstar. “But somehow, as time passed by, things changed. It really bothers me that we people who were actors earlier have now become commodities,” he continued.

Sunny Deol was one of Bollywood’s most prominent actors in the Indian film industry back in the late 80s and 90s. His films Lootere, Darr, Arjun and Ghayal performed well and were adorned by fans.

It will be interesting to see whether and if some Bollywood superstars will respond to Sunny Deol’s accusations. After all, no artist  likes being called a mere commodity!
