Supreme Court rejects new Hajj Policy, restores private operators quota

A bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali announced its brief verdict over the Hajj tour operators’ plea against the Hajj policy of this year.

The court in its ruling said that the government should have to take all stakeholders over the issue before announcement of the hajj policy for this year.

The bench ruled against the government’s new Hajj quota policy and ordered to restore 50 percent quota of tour operators.

Chief Justice Jamali, while heading a three-member bench restored fifty percent quota of tour operators’ which was announced in the Hajj Policy in previous year.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs while citing the public interest had announced reduction in Hajj quota of private operators from 50 percent to to accommodate maximum number of pilgrims.
