Survey ranks Nawaz Sharif as most popular politician

The survey on quality of democracy has been conducted by PILDAT on completion of the two years of the present democratic government.

The PTI Chief Imran Khan has an approval rating of 49 percent, three percent less than in the previous survey of the Institute last year.

The approval rating of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was in 2014 survey was stated at 53 percent which has increased by 22 percent this year at 75 percent.

The other national politicians have relatively lower ratings from Sharifs and Imran Khan in popularity.

MQM chief Altaf Hussain emerged as the least popular leader in Pakistan with an approval rating of 13 per cent. Former president and PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari has a rating of 27 percent. PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has rating at 19 per cent, ANP president Asfandyar Wali at 18 per cent and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari at 27 per cent.

As many as 59 per cent of the respondents believed that the elections 2013 were somewhat to completely transparent and fair.

While 30 per cent of the respondents, seven percent lesser than the previous survey saw the polls as somewhat to completely rigged.

Fifty-one percent respondents of the survey called the performance of the government as ‘satisfactory’.

The rating of the military also goes high in popularity as according to survey the military is the most dependable institution of the state.
