According to details, security personnel conducted a raid in Charsadda and arrested a man named Bakhtiar. He was said to be an Afghan national involved in the attack on Peshawar’s Badhber airbase which claimed lives of 29 people on Friday.

The suspect was moved to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.

Pakistani Taliban militants dressed in official uniforms attacked the air force base near the northwestern city of Peshawar on Friday, killing at least 29 people, most of them soldiers, the group’s deadliest assault in months following a major military offensive against them.

All 14 attackers were also killed by security agencies.

The insurgents entered the residential compound at the base, attacking a mosque where they killed 16 air force personnel as they were about to offer dawn prayers.

The attack was claimed by a splinter group of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan(TTP) in an e-mail sent to journalists.

Addressing a crowded press conference shortly afterwards, the spokesman for the Pakistan Army, Maj Gen Asim Salim Bajwa had said that the attack was “planned and controlled” from Afghanistan.

Pakistani authorities, after finding concrete evidences of the coordination of attack from Afghanistan, have decided to take these evidences to neighboring country.
