Ban on swimming, Section 144 imposed in coastal areas of Karachi

KARACHI: Section 144 has been imposed in the coastal areas of Karachi with a ban on swimming in the sea during the holidays of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Reasonable precautions are being taken particularly to protect the lives of picnickers who visit beaches to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, officials confirmed.

The Sindh government has installed banners on the routes to Clifton and Seaview beaches inscribed with directions to refrain from swimming.

The banners also warn of strict action against those violating Section 144.

This should be noted that over 30 picnickers drowned in rough seas of Karachi during the Eid holidays in 2014.

Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC)
